INSULIN POTENTIATION THERAPY
Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT) was developed nearly 70 years ago, but has
only been gaining in popularity in these latter few years. Used as a treatment
for cancer, viral disease and a variety of neurodegenerative conditions, IPT
utilizes the hormone insulin, followed by glucose, in conjunction with the appropriate
disease specific medications. Insulin increases cell membrane permeability by
taking advantage of the many insulin receptors on cells and thusly increases
the intracellular concentration of the concurrently administered medicine. In
simple terms, IPT delivers drugs to the cells better, thereby enhancing effectiveness.
Consequently, smaller drug doses can be used, potentially reducing side effects.
IPT physicians in the U.S. and Mexico mainly use this treatment for cancer therapy
in conjunction with conventional chemotherapy agents. At Kelowna Naturopathic
Clinic, IPT is only combined with Natural Chemotherapy medicines for the adjunctive
treatment of cancer. IPT can also be used with substances like vitamins and
minerals for non-oncological purposes.
IPT is a powerful modality and KNC is one of the few clinics in Canada that has
incorporated this therapy as part of a comprehensive treatment program.
